What is the free cancellation service of railway, by which money can be saved by canceling the ticket
Railway Ticket Cancellation Rule: The number of people traveling by Indian Railways is huge. But due to some reason many times passengers are not able to travel by train. They have to cancel their tickets. Some people book tickets but when the time comes near, they cancel the tickets. How much is charged if the trip has to be canceled for any reason? How much money is deducted? Does IRCTC refund the full amount? It is very important to have complete knowledge of the rules of Train Ticket Refund. If you are aware of the rules of refund, then your ticket cancellation charges will be deducted less and your loss will be less.
How can I get a full refund for the ticket?
Indian Railways gives an option to the passengers. If you want you can get full refund of the ticket but this option is not free. For this you will have to pay a convenience fee first. You have to pay a fee higher than the ticket price at the time of purchasing the ticket. In such a situation, if you are not traveling for some reason and have to cancel the ticket, then the Railways will refund you the full amount and if you are traveling then this ticket will be expensive for you.
Confirmed ticket cancellation rules
If your ticket is confirmed then…
180 per passenger will have to be charged in third AC and AC chair car.
120 per passenger will be deducted in sleeper class (SL) 48 hours before the departure time of the train.
In General Class (2S), a charge of Rs 60 per passenger will have to be paid 48 hours before the departure time of the train.
Rs 200 in second AC, Rs 240 per passenger in first AC and executive class and GST will also be applicable.
GST is not levied on sleeper class tickets, while Railways levies GST on AC class tickets.
How much will the cut cost?
– If you are not able to cancel the ticket till 4 hours before the departure time of the train, then after that not even a single penny of refund will be available.
– If the ticket is canceled between 4 hours before and 12 hours before the departure time of the train, half of the ticket i.e. 50% fee is deducted.
– In case of confirmed train tickets, canceled within 48 hours and up to 12 hours prior to the departure time, up to 25% of the total fee is deducted.
– RAC ticket and waitlist must be canceled 30 minutes before the departure time of the train. Otherwise refund will not be available.
